The Setting Sun

I bade
the setting sun goodbye
as he bathe me
in his orange glow
he whispered words
into my ears
of hope
and a tomorrow bright and clear
he smiled at me
the setting sun
and told me
bedtime is nigh
he left promises
of little pink clouds
and set the moon
my night to guide
his eyes are closed
his warmth is gone
goodnight setting sun
I would see you at dawn....

Tell the peacock
that pride doesn't pay
its arrogant display of colorful feathers
would soon land it
in my pot of soup

HOPE

I cling unto this damsel
called Hope
night after night
I lay her down by my bedside
watching her sleep
tending to her needs
I put my arms around her
for I fear she might fade away
enchanting her with lullabies
so she might stay here with me
I would bring her wood
I would make a fire
so she could stay warm in my abode
for someday I pray
she would bear me rain

                                                           FREEDOM PARK

These walls once
were grim and gloom
where many a fate
met their doom
I still see them
in their chains
their sweaty bodies
tilling the grounds
They wet the soil
with their tears
I still can hear their cries
in these winds
of sorrows and agony
of freedom so far away.
In bitterness
they accept their misfortune
Day and night
in these walls their world is conformed
no escape
from its savagery nor
from the jailer's whip
and days of bitting hunger
Alas how useless it is
to hope for tomorrow.
Crammed into breathlessness
in this pigeon hole
called prison cells
life has no meaning here
death they impatiently await.
Bound never to feel again
the sweet canality of the opposite sex
in these chains
they have been cursed
to spend their lives
misreable till death comes calling...

Again you have come
crying into this world
like you were forced to come
but we see your charred toes
and the marks on your cheeks
tell tales
that you have severally been here
Why wouldnt you let mama's womb be?
she cried for you to stay
but you turn deaf ears to her pleas
Your short life
is a spell of sorrow
Mother runs helter skelter
when you start your fits
and your cries
she begs the dibia
so many sacrificies he prescribes
but away you still go
joining your brethren in their kingdom
You cause us great confusion
in this labyrinth of your life
come and go no more
Go and come no more
so mother's womb
can boast of other children
